It's not easy to stay active all the time, especially during the holidays when schedules fill up with family and festive events. Nevertheless, it's certainly doable!
1. Break up activity throughout the day.
You don't have to do all of your exercise or activity in one sitting. You might only have 5 minutes to spare, but that's enough time to complete one set of exercise. 5 minutes here and there will add up.
2. The small things matter too.
Don't forget that your day to day activity counts too. Cleaning the home ready for guests or spending hours walking through the mall shopping for gifts expends energy. Being active doesn't mean you always have to be in a gym.
3. Take the stairs.
Forego the elevator and use those legs to climb the stairs! Climbing stairs is a great way to sneak a short burst of physical activity into your day.
4. Make it a family event.
Gather family members to go out for a day of festive activities. Winter is a great time for ice skating, snowshoeing, hiking, or even curling! And to warm you up, there's always a nice hot mug of cocoa to look forward to.
5. Most importantly- have fun!
Being active shouldn't be a chore, have fun and enjoy what you do!
